About Me

Hi, my name is Rebecca Hillyard, also known as Becky or Bex, designer from Shropshire, UK.

I have always been a creative and imaginative person, with a love for the arts, but it was at university where I discovered my passion for design. I studied Interior Architecture and Design in Sheffield, UK. My course was focussed towards the commercial sector of interior design where I would design shops, hotels, restaurants, and office spaces. During my final year I focussed my dissertation and final project on retail design and how to keep the high street alive and exciting through experiential design. This is where I developed my skill for retail design and visual merchandising.

Since graduating in 2019 I have worked in a mix of VM and store design roles, working for well known brands such as Dr. Martens and IKEA. I have also worked as a domestic interior designer for local design companies. While working on my various projects throughout my time as a designer, I've realised my favourite part about the design process is the problem solving element to it. With each space, comes a different purpose and a different functional needs to allow each client/customer to use the space. I always enjoy in the initial design stages, putting myself in the space and thinking how I would need to interact with it in order to get the most out of the space and its purpose.

Now, I am starting my journey in Canada, hoping to continue my career in design, whether that be with commercial or domestic interiors, or even another field. I am very personable, organised and an extremely hard worker, able to thrive both as an individual, or as part of a team. I take pride in all my work and will not finish a project until both myself and the client are 100% satisfied and happy with the proposals.
